Configuring an Instance for Trusted and Untrusted Files

The File Creation Restriction option designates the file types that you can upload or add to Archer. A user can add files either by uploading or by performing functions such as exporting and importing data and packages. You can either include or exclude file types by their file extensions, but not both.

  • Adding file extensions to the list of untrusted sites prevents the creation of files with that extension.
  • Adding file extensions to the list of trusted sites permits the creation of files with that extension. Any file extension you upload must match the file extension in this list.

Important: For net new installations, the list of trusted sites is enabled by default. For upgrades, the list of trusted and untrusted sites are unaffected.

Excluding the file types in the following table by adding their extensions to the list of untrusted sites affects your ability to upload or export data as well as import data packages.

File Type

Result

.ZIP

Prevents the installation of packages to your Archer instance.

RTF, PDF, XLS, CSV, MHTML, XML

Prevents the export of files in search results. This restriction affects only the file extensions you include in the list of untrusted sites.

Visio

Prevents the export of solution report diagrams.

You can filter the File Creation Restriction list using one of the following filter types.
