Configuring Admin Dashboard Settings
System Administrators can configure the following:
- Period of data to load when initially populating the Admin Dashboard
- Refresh intervals for the initial load and subsequent refreshes
- Retention period for dashboard data
When the Admin Dashboard needs to be populated with new data, Archer runs the Admin Dashboard job. You can monitor the Admin Dashboard job using the Job Engine Manager in the Administrator Control Panel. The Admin Dashboard job gathers reliability data each time it is run, and can automatically change configuration parameters to make the dashboard run more reliably for your Archer deployment.
When automatically adjusting parameters for reliability, the Admin Dashboard job uses the following logic:
- Initial Load Periods starts at one day by default, but you can set it for up to eight days using the Archer Control Panel.
- Each time the job fails, Archer automatically adjusts the Initial Load Refresh Interval and Initial Load Period parameters.
- First, the Initial Load Refresh Interval increases incrementally until it reaches the maximum of 1440 minutes.
- If the job continues to fail and Initial Load Period is set for longer than the default, it decreases incrementally until it reaches one day.
- Each time Initial Load Period decreases by one day, Initial Load Refresh Interval resets to 60 minutes, and the incremental adjustment cycle continues.
- If the job continues to fail, the incremental adjustments proceed until the Initial Load Refresh Interval reaches 1440 minutes and Initial Load Period reaches one day.
- If a subsequent job run fails after successful initial population of the Admin Dashboard, the job uses Initial Load Refresh Interval instead of Refresh Interval to populate dashboard content.
Set the initial load days, refresh intervals, and retention period for the Admin Dashboard
- Open the Archer Control Panel, and go to the Installation Settings tab.
- On the General tab, go to the Admin Dashboard section.
- In the Refresh Interval (minutes) field, enter the interval at which the Admin Dashboard generates metric content for all subsequent dashboard refreshes after the initial load period.
Note: You can enter an integer value from 15 to 1440 minutes (one day).
- In the Initial Load Period (days) field, enter the number of days the Admin Dashboard will look back to gather data during initial population.
Note: You can enter an integer value from 1 to 8 days.
- From the Initial Load Refresh Interval (minutes) drop-down, select the interval at which the Admin Dashboard generates metric content during the initial load period. Setting a short initial refresh interval with a long initial load period can cause significant delays when initially populating the Admin Dashboard, especially for deployments with large databases.
Note: You can select an initial interval of 60, 180, 360, or 1440 minutes (one day).
- In the Retention Period (days) field, enter the number of days to store Admin Dashboard data.
Note: You can store data for a minimum of 30 days.
- On the toolbar, click Save.
