Managing Your Metrics
You can monitor metrics related to each business unit within your organization. Metrics can be created directly from the Metrics application or within a Business Unit record.

Tasks to manage your metrics
Here are the tasks to manage your metrics:

Create a Metric from:

The Metrics application. Provide information including the Metric Owner, the review due date, metric type, trend expectation, measurement frequency, and type of monitoring.

A Business Unit record. In the Business Unit record, provide Key Indicators information by selecting related metric library records and Creating Key Indicators.

Submit the metric record to the Risk Manager by reviewing and editing the record, selecting a review date, the Business Unit, and related risks.

Review the Metric by making any necessary edits such as resetting the metric due date, and either activating, ending, or rejecting the metric.

Metrics Results are automatically created for each Metric using a data feed when the next measurement date equals the current day.

Set up the Enroll Metrics to Workflow Which are Past Due for Metrics Results schedule. Set the Active status, select the Schedule Owner and Run As users, and set the start time and frequency of the schedule.

Review Past Due Metrics by either:

Submitting the latest metrics results for the record.

Requesting to inactivate the metrics. When the Metric Owner requests a metric inactivation, the Risk Manager must then review the metric and approve or reject the inactivation of the request.

Create a Metric from the Metrics application

Go to the Metrics Search Results page.
- From the menu, click the Operational Risk Management menu.
- Click Key Indicator Management.
- Click Metrics.
- Click
, and click New Record.
- In the General Information section, do the following:
- Enter a name and description for the metric.
- Select a Metric Owner and Metric Owner review due date.
- Select the metric type, trend expectation, measurement frequency, and type of monitoring, and method of collection. Users of the Operational Scenario Analysis use case will also want to select the appropriate resilience pillar..
- Complete the section that corresponds to the type of monitoring you selected in step 3c.
- If you selected Numeric Threshold as your type of monitoring, in the Threshold Monitoring section, do the following:
- In the Numeric Type field select type of value being monitored (duration, monetary amount, number, percentage).
- In the Red Threshold field, enter the value that must be exceeded for a metric to be considered red.
In the Amber Threshold field, enter the value that must be exceeded for a metric to be considered green. Values that fall between the amber and red thresholds will be considered amber.
The Operator value will automatically update to indicate if lower or higher numbers are ideal. If the red threshold is lower than the amber threshold, then higher numbers are ideal. If the amber threshold is lower than the red threshold, then lower numbers are ideal.
- If you selected Trend Alignment as your type of monitoring, in the Trending section, enter a trend interpretation.
- If you selected Banding as your type of monitoring, in the Banding section, enter a value for the number of standard deviations for banding.
- If you selected Numeric Threshold as your type of monitoring, in the Threshold Monitoring section, do the following:

Click Save or Save and Close.
- To apply the changes and continue working, click Save.
- To save and exit, click Save and Close.
The record is enrolled in advanced workflow. A notification is sent to the Metric Owner to review and submit the metric record.
Create a Metric record from a Business Unit record
User: Business Unit Manager

Go to the Business Unit Search Results page.
- From the menu, click the Operational Risk Management menu.
- Click Key Indicator Management.
- Click Business Unit.
- Select the Business Unit record that you want to edit.
- Click Edit.
- Click the Key Indicators tab.
- In the Create Key Indicators section, do the following:
- In the Metrics Library field, select related metric library records.
- In the Create Key Indicators field, select Yes.
- Click Create Key Indicators.
The Create Metrics From Metric Library for BU data feed runs and creates Metric records for the selected Business Unit.
A notification is sent to the Metric Owner to review and submit the Metric record.
Submit to Risk Manager
After a metric is created, the Metric Owner must review and submit the record to the Risk Manager.

Do 1 of the following:
- Click
in the Global Header and select the task assigned to you.

Go to the Metrics Search Results page.
- From the menu, click the Operational Risk Management menu.
- Click Key Indicator Management.
- Click Metrics.
- Select the Metrics record assigned to you.
- Click
- Click Edit.
- Review the record and make any necessary edits.
- In the Risk Manager Review Date, select a review date.
- In the Targets section, select the Business Unit and related risks.
- Click Submit to Risk Manager.
A notification is sent to the Risk Manager for review.
Review a Metric
User: Risk Manager

Do 1 of the following:
- Click
in the Global Header and select the task assigned to you.

Go to the Metrics Search Results page.
- From the menu, click the Operational Risk Management menu.
- Click Key Indicator Management.
- Click Metrics.
- Select the Metrics record assigned to you.
- Click
- Click Edit.
- Review the record and make any necessary edits.
- Do 1 of the following:
- To activate the metric, click Activate Metric.
- To terminate a metric, do the following:
- Click the Termination tab.
- In the Request Termination of Metric field, select Yes.
- In the Termination Justification field, enter a justification for the metric termination.
- Click Terminate.
The metric record status updates to Terminated.
- To reject a metric, do the following:
- Click Reject.
- In the Metric Owner Review Due Date field, select a new review due date.
- Click Save Due Date.
The system notifies the Metric Owner for review.
- To reset the metric due date, do the following:
- Click Reset Due Date.
- In the Risk Manager Review Due Date field, select a new review due date.
- Click Save Due Date.
The metric status updates to Active.
Note: When a metric record is activated, the Metric Owner must add metric results to the metric record on or before the Metric Results Due Date.
Add Metrics Results to a Metric
When a Metric record is activate and either the next measurement date equals the current date or the latest measurement date is empty a metric result will automatically be created for the metric via the Generate Metrics Results data feed.
Set up schedule
User: System Administrator
When an active metric has no latest metric result within the due date, the Enroll Metrics to Workflow Which are Past Due for Metrics Results schedule enrolls the metric in advanced workflow and updates the Metric record status to Past Due. The Metric Owner will be notified and must take action.

Open the Enroll Metrics to Workflow Which are Past Due for Metric Results schedule.
- From the menu, click

- Under Application Builder, select Schedules.
- Click Enroll Metrics to Workflow Which are Past Due for Metric Results schedule.
- From the menu, click
- In the General Information section, do the following:
In the Status field, set the status to Active.
- Select the Schedule Owner and Run As users.
- In the Recurrences section, set the start time and frequency for the schedule.
- Click Save.
Review Past Due Metrics
User: Metric Owner
When no metric result is added to the Metric record on or before the Metric Results Due Date, the Metric Status updates to Past Due and must be reviewed.
- Do 1 of the following:
- Click
in the Global Header and select the task assigned to you.
Go to the Metrics Search Results page.
- From the menu, click the Operational Risk Management menu.
- Click Key Indicator Management.
- Click Metrics.
- Select the Metrics record assigned to you.
- Click
- Click Edit.
- Do 1 of the following:
- To activate a metric, do the following:
- Click the Metrics Results tab and select the appropriate metric result record.
- In the Metrics Results record enter either the numeric metric value or the qualitative metric value depending on the type of metric that was specified in the parent metric.
- Click Save.
The Metric Status updates to Active.
- To activate a metric, do the following:
Inactivate Metric Request
The Metric Owner can request to inactivate a metric when the Metric Status is Active or Past Due.

Go to the Metrics Search Results page.
- From the menu, click the Operational Risk Management menu.
- Click Key Indicator Management.
- Click Metrics.
- Select the Metrics record assigned to you.
- Click Edit.
- Click Request to Activate/Inactivate Metric.
The system notifies the Risk Manager for review.
Review Metric Inactivation Request
User: Risk Manager
When the Metric Owner requests a metric inactivation, the Risk Manager must review the metric and approve or reject the inactivation of the metric.

Do 1 of the following:
- Click
in the Global Header and select the task assigned to you.

Go to the Metrics Search Results page.
- From the menu, click the Operational Risk Management menu.
- Click Key Indicator Management.
- Click Metrics.
- Select the Metrics record assigned to you.
- Click
- Click Edit.
- Review the record and make any necessary edits.
- Do 1 of the following:
- Click Approve Inactivation.
- Click Reject Inactivation.
The Metric Status is Inactive.
The system notifies the Metric Owner of the rejection.
