Adding Custom Metrics

If you have data that you need to collect that isn't covered by one of the out-of-the-box supported standards and frameworks, you can add custom metrics to the ESG Library application.

Add a custom metric

  1. In the ESG Library application, create a new record.

  2. In the Standard/Framework field, select Custom.

  3. In the Metric Type field, select Accounting.

  4. For the Sector and Industry fields, either select Custom or create a new list value. To create a new list value, to the right of the field click Edit, and then follow from step 2 on in Manually Add Values.

  5. Custom metrics may be used for additional contextual information within a particular standard and Topic/Disclosure. If your organization uses custom metrics, Archer recommends that you formulate a policy on what is added in the Sector, Industry, and Topic/Disclosure fields for to ensure a consistent approach.

  6. Complete the rest of the General Information section.

  7. In the Topic Details section, in the Topic/Disclosure field, either select Custom or create a new list value.

This field is used to tie related metrics together and is used during the metric reporting process. Depending on the number of custom metrics that you plan to create, using a new list value can provide more logical grouping and added reporting context versus using "custom".

To create a new list value, to the right of the field click Edit, and then follow from step 2 on in Manually Add Values.

  1. In the Code field, enter a unique identifier for the record that provides appropriate context for the metric within your organization. For example, "CUST-01, CUST-02" or "HR-CTRY-FTE-01, HR-CTRY-FTE-02". The Code field is the key field for this application, so users will click this value to open a record.

  2. Complete the rest of the Details section, and save the record.
