Reporting Design Best Practices

Follow these best practices to create consistent, user-friendly reports.

  • Use a Column format for data-only information.

  • Use less than 10 columns to reduce horizontal scrolling.

  • Include key fields in the left most column for ease in accessing records.

  • Keep search results to 5 or fewer search results default fields.

  • Confirm only the most important fields use search results option.

  • Grant access to reports by groups whenever possible.
