Creating & Managing Widgets

Widgets are containers for information that you want to present to your users in a dashboard.

Creating widgets
Widgets can either be single or multiple chart widgets.
Note: Widgets on a dashboard show only charts if the report is configured to display both Chart and Data. Clicking on the widget name will direct you to the report, where you can view both the chart and the data.
Creating a Links widget
A Links widget allows you to create links to web sites, intranet sites, reports, and frequently used Archer pages.
Note: This widget supports up to 6 rows and 6 columns and can only utilize half the page.
Task 1: Create a Links widget
On the left panel, go to Widgets > Non-Report > Add New > Links. Drag the links widget onto your dashboard.
Task 2: Edit Links widget properties

On the right panel, go to Properties > General.

Enter a name for your links widget.

(Optional) Enter a description for this widget.

(Optional) In the Widgets section, select a variation. The options available are Simple List and Descriptive Links.

Enter a name for the link.

(Optional) Enter a description for the link.

Select the link Type.

If you selected an Internal Page Type:

Select an Internal Link from the dropdown list.

(Optional) Choose a primary graphic for your link.

Click Add.
Note: Note: Internal Link type does not support link to content record.

If you selected a Report Type:
-
Select a Report from the dropdown list.

(Optional) Choose a primary graphic for your link.

Click Add.

If you selected a Dashboard Type:

Select a dashboard from the dropdown list.

(Optional) Choose a primary graphic for your link.

Click Add.

If you selected an External Link Type:

Select the internet protocol, http or https, from the dropdown list.

Enter an External Link.

(Optional) Choose a primary graphic for your link.

To add more links to this widget, repeat Task 2 steps 5 - 9.
Links widget can hold a maximum of 8 links within them.
Creating a Landing Page widget
A Landing Page widget is used to create and view links with a background image of your choice on the dashboard.
Task 1: Create a Landing Page widget
On the left panel, go to Widgets > Non-Report > Add New > Landing Page. Drag the Landing Page widget onto your dashboard.
Task 2: Edit Landing Page widget properties

On the right panel, go to Properties > General.

Enter a name for your landing page widget.

(Optional) Enter a description for this widget.

Enter a name for the link.

(Optional) Enter a description for the link.

Select the link Type.

If you selected an Internal Page Type:

Select an Internal Link from the dropdown list.

(Optional) Choose a primary graphic for your link.

Click Add.
Note: Note: Internal Link type does not support link to content record.

If you selected a Report Type:

Select a Report from the dropdown list.

(Optional) Choose a primary graphic for your link.

Click Add.

If you selected a Dashboard Type:

Select a dashboard from the dropdown list.

(Optional) Choose a primary graphic for your link.

If you selected an External Link Type:

Select the internet protocol, http or https, from the dropdown list.

Enter an External Link.

(Optional) Choose a primary graphic for your link.

Click Add.

To add more links to this widget, repeat Task 2 steps 4 - 7.
Landing Page widget can hold a maximum of 8 links within them.

In the Widgets section, go to Background Image > Add Image.

Click Add Image.

Choose a background image for your Landing Page widget, click OK.

Creating a Dashboard Summary widget
A Dashboard Summary widget is used to add a brief overview of the dashboard.
Task 1: Create a Dashboard Summary widget
On the left panel, go to Widgets > Non-Report > Add New > Dashboard Summary. Drag the Dashboard Summary widget onto your dashboard.
Task 2: Edit Dashboard Summary widget properties

On the right panel, go to Properties > Widgets.

Enter a name for your dashboard summary widget.

Enter a Summary for this widget with a maximum of 1000 characters.

Creating a Section Divider widget
A section divider widget is used to organize the widgets into different sections on a dashboard.
Task 1: Create a Section Divider widget
On the left panel, go to Widgets > Non-Report > Add New > Section Divider. Drag the Section Divider widget onto your dashboard.
Task 2: Edit Section Divider widget properties

On the right panel, go to Properties > Widgets.

Enter a name for your section divider widget.

Choose a background color for the section divider widget to visually differentiate sections in Dashboards. If you do not choose a color, the widget uses white as the default (hex color code FFFFFF).

Creating an External Content widget
An External Content widget is used to view data from different sources outside of Archer on the dashboard.
Note: The External Content widget cannot load websites that restrict embedding in an iframe.
Task 1: Create an External Content widget
On the left panel, go to Widgets > Non-Report > Add New > External Content. Drag the External Content widget onto your dashboard.
Task 2: Edit External Content widget properties

On the right panel, go to Properties > General.

Enter a name for your external content widget.

(Optional) Enter a description for this widget.

In the Widgets section, go to URL.

Select the internet protocol, http or https, from the dropdown list.

Enter a valid URL in External Link.

(Optional) Click View to preview the external content widget on the dashboard.

Creating multiple chart widgets
You can add multiple chart widgets to your dashboard by stacking individual widgets on top of each other. Each multiple chart widget can hold up to 15 reports or charts. To switch between these reports or charts, use
menu.
Creating a Calendar format widget
The Calendar widget displays saved report data in a familiar calendar layout, helping users quickly track audit and compliance schedules, upcoming deadlines, and overall workload.
Task 1: Create a Dashboard Calendar widget
On the left panel, go to Widgets > Report > Find your saved Calendar report. Drag the Calendar widget onto your dashboard.

On the right panel, go to Properties > Widgets.

Enter a name for your calendar widget.
Creating a Custom Widget with Broadhead
You can create custom widgets to add to your dashboard with a global window object called Broadhead.
Task 1: Create an Custom Content widget
On the left panel, go to Widgets > Non-Report > Add New > Custom. Drag the Custom widget onto your dashboard.
Task 2: Edit Custom Content widget properties

Formulate your Broadhead command. See What is Broadhead? for more details.

On Edit Dashboard, drag and drop the non-report widget Custom to the Center pane.

In properties, name your dashboard, and enter the command into Widgets section.
Managing Widgets
You can edit, remove, and delete widgets from a dashboard.
Edit widget properties

Select a widget.
-
On the right panel, go to Properties > Widgets.

Edit the name of this widget if necessary.
Note: The name of the widget is specific to the dashboard and does not affect the name of the report.

(Optional) In the Reports section, select a variation and choose colors from the predefined color palettes.

Note: Any changes to the report properties results in an update to the report. This change is visible wherever the report is used.
Note: To edit properties of a multiple chart widget, edit the properties of individual reports separately. Select each report using the drop-down on the multiple chart widget, edit the report properties in the right panel, and save the changes.
Edit a Links widget
Update links in a Links widget

Select the links widget.

On the right panel, go to Properties > General.

(Optional) Edit the name and description of this widget as required.

In the Widgets section, edit the variation and links as required.
All the links in the selected widget are displayed.

> Edit, next to the link you want to update and make the necessary changes. -

Reorder links in a Links widget

Select the links widget.

On the right panel, go to Properties > Widgets > Links.

Hover over the link you want to reorder.

, and drag the link to the desired location. -

Delete links from a Links widget

Select the links widget.

On the right panel, go to Properties > Widgets > Links.
All the links in the selected widget are displayed.

> Delete, next to the link you want to delete from the links widget. -

Edit a Landing Page widget

Select the landing page widget.

On the right panel, go to Properties > General.

(Optional) Edit the name and description of this widget as required.

In the Widgets section, go to Links.

Add, update, reorder, or delete the links as required.

In the Widgets section, go to Background Image.

Make changes to the image as required.

Edit an External Content widget

Select an external content widget.

On the right panel, go to Properties > General.

Edit the name, description, and URL of this widget as required.

Remove reports from multiple chart widgets

Select a multiple chart widget on the dashboard.

Remove widgets or multiple chart widgets from a dashboard

Select a widget or a multiple chart widget on the dashboard, and click

Delete widgets from a dashboard

Select a multiple chart widget on the dashboard.

On the right panel, go to Properties, and scroll down to the bottom of the panel.

Click Delete Widget. A message is displayed asking you to confirm the deletion.

Searching Widgets
Search enables you to search for reports and multiple chart widgets in a dashboard.

From a dashboard, go to the search bar on the left panel.

Enter the search keyword or phrase in the search bar.

The search results are displayed on the left panel. To clear the search, click
in the search bar.
Filtering reports in a Widget
You can filter reports to narrow down your search. You can filter reports based on applications, charts, dashboards, and report types.

On the left panel of a dashboard, click
to view the filters. -
Select the filters based on your need.
The filters available are Applications, Charts, Dashboards, and Report Type. Click
to expand the filter and view the options. -
Click Apply.
The filter results are displayed on the left panel. To clear all selected filters, click
, and click Clear.
