Getting to Know the Archer User Interface

Archer user interface features a user friendly interface.

The following describes the areas of the Archer UI labeled in the image above.

Important: The minimum supported browser window width is 1280 pixels.

Using web browser navigation buttons, for example, Back, Forward, and Refresh, on Archer pages may result in entered data not being saved.

The menu bar displays at the top of every page in Archer. It enables you to search, open the Online Documentation, access your Task-Driven Landing screen, administration and user menus, and hide or display the entire header.

Menu Bar

The following table describes the items in the menu bar.

Enables you to display a custom logo. You can edit this image from the Manage Appearance page.

Hide/Display menu bar and Navigation menu

Hides or displays the menu bar and Navigation menu from the top of your screen.

Global search button

Enables you to search for items across all solutions and applications to which you have access.

Activity button

Displays the 10 most recently added, edited, and viewed records. Each activity lists the record name, application, time stamp, and activity type. You can click the record name to open the record. By clicking More, you can view up to 50 activities.

Activity tracks the records based on the following field types:

  • History log. You can view your add and edit activities for records that contain a history log-enabled field.
  • Access history. You can view your recently viewed records that contain an access history field.

Records that have been deleted are no longer displayed. If the same record that is added is also edited, the record is listed twice in the list. If multiple edits are performed on the same record, the edit activity displays all recent edits. Every time the record is updated, the time stamp corresponds to the most recent activity.

If a record has been edited, viewed activity will not display for that record for the duration of the same calendar day.

For records enrolled in an advanced workflow, actions that are completed by the system do not appear in Activity.

Tasks button

Takes you to your Task-Driven Landing screen—one of the available options for your Archer default home page.

Administration menu

Expands the menu for the Administration workspace, displaying all quick links and the administrative features to which you have access.

After selecting an option from the Administration menu on the menu bar, the menu is docked on the left side of the screen. You can collapse this menu to enable more space on the screen and expand to view the menu options.

Online Documentation button

Opens the Online Documentation where you can read about Archer features and solutions, and find information about using the product.

User menu

Enables you to update your user profile, change the workspaces displayed on the menu bar, review login and data import history, and log out of Archer.

The Navigation menu displays beneath the menu bar at the top of every page in Archer. It enables you to access your reports with a single click and navigate the solutions and applications within a particular workspace.

The following table describes the items in the Navigation menu.

Opens the page you have configured to be your home page.

Takes you directly to the workspace dashboard.

Workspace menu

Expands the menu for that workspace and displays dashboards, solutions, and applications within a workspace.

Expand button

Displays when there are more workspaces than can fit in the Navigation menu. This button expands the Navigation menu so you can view all the additional workspaces to which you have access.

Reports button

Takes you to the Report Listing page.

Workspace buttons and menus

Workspace buttons take you directly to the associated workspace, while workspace menus enable you to access all the solutions, applications, and questionnaires within that workspace. Each workspace has its own menu, which you can access by clicking down arrow beside the workspace button.

The following table describes the items in the workspace.

Dashboards

Displays all dashboards contained within the workspace.

Solutions

Displays all solutions contained within the workspace.

Applications

Displays all applications and questionnaires to which you have access within a particular solution. When you select a solution from the solution list, the menu expands to display the applications and questionnaires within that particular solution.

Clicking an application or questionnaire name brings you to the default search results page for that application or questionnaire.

Application Shortcuts

Displays five shortcut buttons when you hover over an application in the Applications list. In order from left to right, they are as follows:

  • Create New Record. Opens an Add New Record page for the highlighted application.
  • Advanced Search. Allows you to perform an advanced search for records within the selected application.
  • Data Import. Allows you to import records within the highlighted application.
  • Reports. Displays reports specific to the highlighted application.
  • Schedule. Allows you to manage schedules within the selected application.

Task-driven landing screen

The Task-Driven Landing screen is one of the available options for your Archer default home page. You can change your default home page at any time by clicking Edit and selecting either the task-driven landing page or another dashboard.

If you navigate away from your home page, click to return to the dashboard that you have selected to be your default home page.

The following table describes the items in the task-driven landing page.

Tasks widget

Displays up to 25 tasks from the current date to future dates, or tasks that have no dates.

Tasks are retained in the list until completed. When you complete a task, the task stays in the list until you log out. After you log in, the completed task appears in the archives section at the bottom of the page. Archived tasks cannot be clicked.

Depending on your permissions, you can open some records from the widget.

  • If you have the appropriate permissions for the application, you can see the application record.
  • If you have appropriate permissions for the application, but the application record has been deleted, you can see the task record.
  • If you do not have appropriate permissions for the application, you can only see the task record.

For information about adding tasks, see Managing Tasks.

Note: To enable full functionality, the Subject, Due Date, and Description fields must be used in the Task Management application.

Activity widget

Displays the 10 most recently added and edited records from any page without opening the Task Driven Landing Screen. Activity shows the addition of and edits to fields that are tracked by the history log. Each activity lists the record name, application, time stamp, and editing activity. You can click the record name to open the record. By clicking More, you can view up to 50 activities. To open the record, click the record name.

Records that have been deleted are no longer displayed. If the same record that is added is also edited, the record is listed twice in the list. If multiple edits are performed on the same record, the edit activity displays the most recent edit and X more edits. Every time the record is updated, the time stamp corresponds to the most recent edit.

For records enrolled in an advanced workflow, actions that are completed by the system do not appear in the Activity widget.

Action button

Creates shortcuts to commonly used records for multiple applications.

Favorites

Enables you to add action buttons.

Font

Many end-user pages use the Open Sans font family. The font settings are not supported in exported or printed files.

Note: Archer does not install the Open Sans font family. To use this font family, ensure your system includes Open Sans. For information on downloading the Open Sans font family, see the Open Sans website.

Note: User interface appearance may be slightly different using Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer interacts differently with content developed using various technologies. User ability to work with the Archer user interface is not affected.
