Search Options: Display Format Options

You can present data in a format that is clear and easy to read by defining the display format.

Select one of the following options from the drop-down list just before you run a search or run a statistical search.

The following table describes the types of display format options.

Format Type

Description

Search Type

Column-Hierarchical

Shows the search results in columnar layout where fields are displayed across the page from left to right. The Hierarchical option groups the results by the values in the search fields.

The top-to-bottom order of the fields in the Selected list in the Search Records page is the left-to-right order of the field in the search results.

Note: Only parent records are counted in this view. The right-click menu is available for parent records.

Summary

Shows the search results in a simple "block" record format in which all field names are omitted. The key field serves as a heading for each record block. The additional specified fields are displayed in a single paragraph with each field value separated by a diamond symbol. Selecting this format hides the Fix Headers and Enable Inline Edit display options.

The top-to-bottom order of the fields in the Selected list in the Search Records page is the left-to-right order of the field in the search results.

Card

Shows the search results in a series of rectangular boxes, with a maximum of four records that are displayed across the page. The page vertically expands to accommodate more records. This view displays fields from the primary application in flat searches or fields from the first level of the primary application in leveled searches. Selecting this format hides the Expand All Results, Fix Headers, and Enable Inline Edit display options.

Note: The right-click menu is not available in this display format.

Non-statistical

Calendar

Renders search results in a calendar display. This format is available for Date fields in leveled and flat applications. You can toggle between day, week, and month views. You also can create events in 1-hour blocks or all-day events. Selecting this format hides the Expand All Results, Fix Headers, and Enable Inline Edit, and Record Count display options, and then displays the Date Display option.

Note: The right-click menu is not available in this display format.

Non-statistical

Map

Enables you to map the location of each record returned in the search results. This option is available only if the administrator has enabled the Bing Maps Connection in the Archer Control Panel. Selecting this format hides the Expand All Results, Fix Headers, and Enable Inline Edit areas, and displays the Map Configuration section. You can set one or more data layers to consolidate search results.

For more information, see Search Options: Map Configuration.

Note: The Map format does not support cross-reference and leveled applications.

Important: Archer has tested map performance with up to 10,000 records. For more than 10,000 records, optimal system performance is not guaranteed.

Non-statistical

Network Graph

Shows the search results as a diagram of interconnected nodes, which allows you to visualize the data hierarchy, displaying results based on the selected values list of the data level within a leveled application. Based on your selection, the top-level records are visible in the initial view. You can click a node to drill down further. When there are no additional nodes in a path, the shape of the node changes.

Note: The network graph format can display up to 1000 records. If the number of records exceeds 1000, the search results are displayed in the column-hierarchical format.

Note: When the number of records in a search result are more, the network graph takes some time to display data. Archer recommends using the filter options to narrow down the search results before displaying them in a network graph format.
