    Dashboards supports a global window object called Broadhead to create customized widgets.

    What is Broadhead?

    Broadhead is a series of predefined commands and actions that you can use within the custom widget to provide functionality to your users that may not yet exist within Archer.

    Version - Required

    To specify which version of Broadhead you are using, you must include a meta tag in your custom code. As Broadhead grows, new versions of the code may be added.

    How do I use Broadhead to create a custom widget?

    1. Formulate your Broadhead command using the information on this page.

    2. On Edit Dashboard, drag and drop the non-report widget Custom to the Center pane.

    3. In properties, name your dashboard, and enter the command into Widgets section.

    What are the Broadhead commands?

    Broadhead has three commands that call different actions:

    • Send Action - update or retrieve information

    • On Action - receive the data from the Send Action command

    • Subscribe - automate the Send Action and On Action cycle

    Send Action

    Send Action deals with anything that changes a value, triggers an event, stores or retrieves information. This command requires the action name being called and any associated parameters. Before being performed, Archer validates the syntax to minimize the impact of incorrect code.

    Examples: 

    broadhead.sendAction('action-name', parameters);

    Response:

    In the cases where Send Action results in a response, you can handle in one of the following methods:

    • Create an On Action which asynchronously manages the response data.

    • Include an await response component to the send action command to handle the response.

      • By default, this times out after 10 seconds. You can extend that time by providing a parameter.

    On Action

    Use On Action receive content from a Send Action command, only.

    Examples:

    Use Subscribe to automate the Send Action and On Action command cycle.

    You may find you want to cancel an existing Subscribe command. In those cases, use Unsubscribe to stop that command.

    What actions can be used with each command?

    Use these actions with the Broadhead commands to create your own custom widgets.

    The following table describes each action, which actions are available with each command, and links to more specific instructions:

    What are General Actions?

    These actions allow you to get information that is not on the custom widget. General actions work on their own and do not require a command.

    Navigate

    Navigate allows you to open a URL in the current tab or a new tab.

    Template:

    • url - Identify the string to open.

    • newTab - (optional) set to true to open a new tab.

    Examples:

    Storage

    Storage allows you to use local and session storage.

    Templates:

    • broadhead.localStorage.clear();

    • broadhead.localStorage.getItem(key).awaitResponse().then((response_data) => {});

    • broadhead.localStorage.removeItem(key);

    • broadhead.sessionStorage.clear|getItem|setItem|removeItem()

    Parameters:

    • method - Chose what you want to do with storage. Options are:

      • clear - Clear the entire storage.

      • getItem - Get a single item.

      • setItem - Set a single item.

      • removeItem - Remove a single item.

    • key - Identify the item to work with.

    • value - Set the value of the item.

    Examples:

    • broadhead.localStorage.setItem(Number_of_Players, 1);

    • broadhead.localStorage.removeItem(Number_of_Players);

    Dashboard Storage

    Use session storage to enable navigation across dashboards.

    Parameters:

    dashboardDetails - key used to store dashboard identifiers: dashboardId and WorkspaceId

    • broadhead.sendAction('save-dashboard-details-to-session');

    • broadhead.sessionStorage.getItem('dashboardDetails');

    • broadhead.sendAction('remove-dashboard-details-from-session');

If there is a default value set (as Record Creator) for the Record permission field, and a person other than the original record creator creates a copy, the copied record will change the Record Permission field value to the default setting.   • Last Updated dates for changes to cross-reference field. When a reference is added or removed through a cross-reference field, the 'last updated' dates for both the referenced record and the record containing the cross-reference field are updated to reflect the change in relationship. Additionally, the 'last updated' date of the referenced record is updated when the record containing the cross-reference field is deleted.

  • Manage Users Roles & Groups tabs with hierarchical group membership. The User Accounts All Report and the Manage User Page properly display roles granted through group membership as well as directly assigned.

  • Internal Mail server. The version of the Archer Mail server component has been upgraded.

  • External Content widget. A new widget type, External Content, is added enabling users to view data from different sources outside of Archer on the dashboard. For more information see, Creating & Managing Widgets in the Platform Help.

  • Running Reference Data Feeds from the Launch Event node of an Advanced Workflow. The 'Run Reference Feeds' option in the Launch Event node properties of an advanced workflow enables you to automatically run the reference data feed after the feed configured in the Launch Event node. For more information, see Building Advanced Workflows: Add a Launch Event Node in the Platform Help.

  • Inactive values displayed in the dropdown of a values list field are unavailable for selection when configuring the values list. For more information, see Managing Values in Values Lists in the Platform Help.

  • Dynamic page header now offers 2 color modes: light and dark. This feature allows clients to customize the interface to suit their branding, especially if they have logos that are dark in color. By switching to a lighter header, the logo will be more clear and visible. Read more.By default, dark mode is enabled. Admins and back-office users have the option to switch the mode through the appearance settings. The icons will adjust automatically to match the selected mode; in dark mode, the icons will switch to lighter versions. Additionally, users are required to upload a logo that complements the header color.

  • Left panel filter & state persistence has been added to the navigation menu to help users quickly find what they're looking for. Users can now search within applications, dashboards, and questionnaires. Read more.The search results will narrow down choices and display a list of matching items, and by adding more characters the filter will narrow down the matches even further. The system starts filtering after typing the first 3 characters, and retains user selection on the left panel during the active session so that refreshing the page does not change their view of the panel.

  • Reports Listing page has been updated to enable filter persistence. This gives the user the option to retain the last search throughout the session. Read more.Previously, when users applied filters to the reports, the filters would be reset upon a page refresh or when the session expired. If the Reports Listing is accessed by the user from an application in the navigation menu, the application filter will override any existing filters.

  • A new capability is added to the Reports Listing page, the Last Viewed option in the column chooser. This option displays the date when the report was last viewed. This provides visibility and insights around engagement with various reports. By Default, the Last viewed checkbox is unchecked. When the last viewed option is enabled, a new column is added to the Reports Listing.

  • Sorting is now available for data gateway fields, both in the Flexible SQL Connector or a custom connector. For instructions on enabling sorting in a custom connector, see Creating a Data Gateway Connector in the Platform Help.

  • Permissions have been implemented on the Notification Sent reports. Read more.Users with read access to the Manage Applications page can view all templates, including admin notifications. Users with read access to the Manage On-Demand Notifications page will only see on-demand notification templates. Users with read access to the Manage Subscription Notifications page will only see subscription notification templates. Users with read access to the Manage SRD Notifications page will only see SRD notification templates. Users with read access to the Manage Admin Notifications page will only see admin notification templates. The admin notification templates cannot be filtered individually from the dropdown menu; this behavior remains unchanged.

• Enhancements added with some of our top 25 Archer Idea requests.

  • Support to retrieve a user’s default email address using the calculated field function USERDEFAULTEMAIL(user_type) is now added. For more information see, System Functions: USERDEFAULTEMAIL Function in the Platform Help.

  • Users can now decide whether to add new values to the values lists or keep it unchanged during import. For more information see, Importing Data: Task 2: Load your data file and select import options in the Platform Help.

  • Archer now allows users to select additional fields to display in findings when auto-generated from the questionnaire. For more information see, Enabling Automatic Generation of Findings for Questionnaires in the Platform Help.

  • Archer platform password reset functionality now includes a two-step verification. The new functionality generates an PIN that must be entered to allow a user to change their password. The PIN is sent to the email address associated with their User Profile. This experience matches the newly released Next Generation Experience and implements several Archer Ideas.

• Software upgrades:

  • The Advanced Workflow component software has been upgraded in this release to address items related to script evaluation and execution errors.

  • The Archer-created TinyMCE plugin only backs up content affected by the TinyMCE upgrade to 7.x. This reduces the number of backup comments being generated.

• Deprecated feature: The Offline Access feature is officially deprecated.

• Missing Help topics. Two Help topics were not mistakenly not included in this Help release: Adding Announcements and Managing Announcements. These are available in later Help releases.
