Designating the Base and Authentication URLs for the Web and Advanced Workflow Application

Designates the base URL and authentication URL for the Archer web application.

URLs and behaviors for the web application

The following table describes the URL designations and behaviors for the web application:

Options

Descriptions

URL Designations

The following options designate the URLs for the Instance and web application, which include the Base URL and Authentication URL.

Instance URL

Designates the unique URL for the instance. With a matching DNS alias, users can access the instance by opening this URL. The Company field does not display on the Login page because the Instance URL has already determined the instance.

Web Application URLs

Base URL. Designates the full path to your Archer website. This URL is based on the installation level of the website in Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS).

For example, when installed at the root level, this URL might be http://servername or http://DNSnameentrypoint.

When installed at the virtual directory level, the URL might be http://servername/virtualdirectory or http://DNSnameentrypoint/virtualdirectory.

Note: If you are configuring for Secure Socket Layer (SSL), replace http:// with https://. For complete information, see the Archer Platform Help.

Authentication URL. Designates the authentication URL for Archer website. By default, this URL is /default.aspx. This URL must include the leading slash.

Override Options

The following options override the default behaviors:

When configuring web properties for multiple instances, make sure to include these settings option on the Web panel of the Multi Instance Settings tab.

Images Base URL

Due to architectural changes in the Advanced Workflow Service, the Advanced Workflow Service, Core Service, and the OpsRisk Service require a defined URL to communicate with the web tier. The default URL used is the Images Base URL, with a backup of the Base URL (unique to your environment configuration).

The Images Base URL is a custom URL used to import images into Archer in areas including Notifications, exporting and printing content, and Advanced Workflow authorization. To use a different Images Base URL, see Overriding the Default Images Base URL for an Instance.

iView Report Caching

The iView Report Caching options let you:

  • Enable or disable iView report caching.
  • Set the amount of time that Report iViews will display cached search results.

The base URL is based on the installation level of the website in Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS). For example, when installed at the root level, this URL might be http://servername or http://DNSnameentrypoint. When installed at the virtual directory level, the URL might be http://servername/virtualdirectory or http://DNSnameentrypoint/virtualdirectory.

The authentication URL is used for authenticating the base URL. By default, this URL is /default.aspx. This URL must include the leading slash.
